这天，我们来到了一个亲戚家，他们家里有一只刚孵出小鸡的母鸡，正在盒子里不声不响，周围则是一群叽叽喳喳的小鸡。当母鸡发现我们在看它们的时候，立即发出了一声细小的警告声。小鸡们马上明白了什么，一个劲的往鸡妈妈怀里钻。母鸡则目不转睛地盯着我们。当鸡宝宝全钻进了鸡妈妈肚子底下后，还在里面动来动去的，我想：鸡妈妈此时一定不好受。

等我们离开后，鸡宝宝又钻了出来，应该是鸡妈妈又对小鸡说了什么吧。我们再次回来，小鸡依然躲了回去，母鸡却扛不住了，它开始还可以看着我。后来一会儿，它实在饿极了，就以闪电般的速度啄了一下地上的菜叶，实际上什么也没有吃到。再过了一小会儿，它的眼睛慢慢的开始闭上，又猛地一下睁开，继续看着我。我是真心想让它休息一下，可母亲的本能却让它强撑住不去吃饭，睡觉。
